A Grammy Award-winning drummer and UTC graduate will return to his alma mater Monday for a concert.
Forrest Robinson, a former music major at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, will present a drum clinic and performance with the UTC Percussion Ensemble at 7 p.m. in the Roland Hayes Concert Hall of the Fine Arts Center, corner of Vine and Palmetto streets.
As a UTC student, Robinson performed with the UTC University Orchestra as timpanist under the baton of Thomas Wilkins. He also performed with the UTC Jazz Band and Percussion Ensemble, directed by Tony D'Andrea and Dr. Monte Coulter, respectively. During his time at UTC, he also was active in the city's music scene.
"Since leaving UTC, Forrest Robinson has established a career as a professional drummer and percussionist at the very top of his profession," said Coulter, who will direct Monday's concert.
"He is the recipient of seven Grammy awards."
