The musicians of the Southern Stars Symphonic Brass Band will present their second concert of the Crossville Music Series on Sunday afternoon in the Stone Memorial High School auditorium.

Conducted by Dr. Steven Sudduth, the band will take "Presidents & Patriots" as the theme of the show, in a nod to Abraham Lincoln's birthday (Sunday) and the proximity of Presidents Day (Feb. 20). The program will feature patriotic music and other selections that have connections to U.S. presidents.

Guest artist Daniel Black, known to Cumberland County Playhouse audiences for stage roles over the past 16 years, will narrate Aaron Copland's moving "Lincoln's Portrait," with accompaniment by the band. In addition, Black will be the featured vocalist for the performance of "(Won't You Come Home) Bill Bailey."

Featured musicians include Sean Greene in a tuba solo in "Badinage," Brandon Jones in a euphonium solo in "Shenandoah" and the percussion section in "William Tell Overture."

The Southern Stars Symphonic Brass Band was founded in 2008 and has 32 members from Middle Tennessee and Kentucky.
