Chattanooga Music Club scholarship winners perform

Two current and two former winners of scholarships from the Chattanooga Music Club will present a free concert at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 19, at Concord Baptist Church, 7025 East Brainerd Road. Admission is free.

Organist Charlynne Fry will accompany the young musicians. They are:

Evelyn Petcher, violinist. A 2006 scholarship winner, she now resides in Baltimore, where she teaches violin and helps promote the Baltimore Symphony's youth outreach program.

Joshua Coleman, pianist. A 2013 scholarship winner, he has won many honors in all-state piano competitions. He is a Provost Scholar and pre-med student at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.

John Burton, trumpeter. A 2013 scholarship recipient, he is notable for having been selected in 2012 to play for the NPR radio program "From the Top." He is the principal trumpet with the Chattanooga Symphony & Opera Youth Orchestra. He will enter the Baylor University music program this fall.

Tim Hinck, pianist. A 1999 scholarship winner, he is known as a pianist and composer. The ensemble Dischord and the piano trio Tresillo have showcased his compositions locally. He teaches at Cadek Conservatory.

The program will include Puccini's "Nessun dorma" from "Turandot"; Debussy's "Preludes" and music by Schubert, Toch and Michael Bublé.
