The Cumberland County Playhouse will continue the celebration of its golden anniversary with a concert Saturday, May 18.

The "40 For Our 50th" show will feature songs selected by members of the CCP Company and through audience input via Facebook. The songs represent shows performed during the history of the playhouse, which was founded between 1963 and 1965.

The program will be a mixture of ballads, comic numbers and full group performances, referencing such favorite shows as "Fiddler on the Roof," "South Pacific," "Brigadoon," "Guys & Dolls," "Big River," "Anything Goes" and "Hello Dolly."

In addition to the Broadway blockbusters the playhouse has produced over the years, the evening will highlight original shows written by the founding Crabtree family, Dennis Davenport and George S. Clinton, such as "Tennessee USA!" and "The Perils of Pinocchio."

The latter, written by Paul Crabtree, was the production that galvanized community support to open a theater after it was staged at Crossville Junior High School with a cast, crew and orchestra of 200 youngsters.

Bryce McDonald will direct Saturday's concert, with music direction by Ron Murphy.
