MLK Day in Sewanee - Grammy winner Clemmons offers spiritals - Jan. 20

François Clemmons, founder of the Harlem Spiritual Ensemble, will present a Martin Luther King Jr. Day concert in Sewanee, Tenn., on Monday, Jan. 24. The Grammy Award-winning operatic tenor is the former artist in residence and director of the Martin Luther King Spiritual Choir at Middlebury College, though he may be best known for the role of the friendly policeman Officer Clemmons on the children's television show "Mister Rogers' Neighborhood." Clemmons will be accompanied by pianist Kate Gridley for this program of spirituals, which will start at 8 p.m. CST in All Saints' Chapel on the campus of the University of the South, 735 University Ave. Admission is free.
