Free demonstrations set for Bike Chattanooga Bicycle Transit System

Representatives of Alta Bicycle Share and Outdoor Chattanooga will offer free demonstrations of the upcoming Bike Chattanooga Bicycle Transit System at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Saturday at the Chattanooga Choo Choo, 1400 Market St.

Scheduled to launch this spring, the Bicycle Transit System is intended to provide a convenient and healthy way for residents and visitors to travel around downtown.

Managed by Alta Bicycle Share, the membership-driven system will feature 30 stations and 300 bicycles, available to members 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Regular membership will cost $75 per year or $6 for 24 hours. Those who sign up before spring will pay an introductory yearly rate of $60.

Those attending Saturday's demonstrations will learn how the system works, how to register and check out bicycles, membership options and bicycle safety.

Bike Chattanooga representatives are available to give demonstrations to any group or organization that has an interest in using the bike share. To schedule a demo, call Jeremy Pomp, Bike Chattanooga general manager, at 521-1642.
