Writers converge here for Meacham conference

The spring Meacham Writers Conference continues through Saturday, with visiting writers offering readings of their works at several sites around town.

Among the visiting writers are international poets Iztok Osojnik from Slovenia and Amir Or from Israel. Other guests include Art Smith, John Hoppenthaler, Cathy Holton, Beth Nugent, Laurel Snyder, Robert Vivian and Terence Hawkins.

The conference is set up so visiting writers can offer feedback and instruction to local writers. The atmosphere is informal, and nonwriters who are avid readers of contemporary prose and poetry are welcome.

The conference is supported primarily by an endowment funded by the late Jean Meacham in honor of her husband, Ellis K. Meacham.

All events are free.
