Chattanooga Zoo hosts Go!Fest and Chili Cookoff

The seventh annual Go!Fest celebration is Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Chattanooga Zoo, 301 N. Holtzclaw Ave.

The event highlights people of all abilities and is part of an initiative created by Chattanooga Mayor Ron Littlefield to help make Chattanooga more accessible to everyone, regardless of their ability.

The ninth annual Fire House Chili Cook-off, which pits teams of area firefighters against each other, will take place during Go!Fest for the first time. The event was previously held as part of the Sunday Chattanooga Market. It will be held Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Patrons can buy tickets for $7.50 for the first one and $5 for additional ones. These allow you to sample the chilis of four teams. Proceeds go to the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

Competing teams are No Hesitation from Station 1 with High Rise Chili; Louie's Red Shirt Mafia from Cleveland, Tenn., with Hillbilly Chili; CFD Combat Challenge with Iron Man Chili; and Chili Chiefs with Chaos Chili.

Barefoot Nellie & Company will provide live music from 1 to 2 p.m.

Visitors to Go!Fest will enjoy demonstrations of adaptive athletics, live music, service dog demonstations, booths showcasing educational and health resources, an art showcase and a large Touch-a-Truck exhibit.
