Poetry slam tonight at The Camp House

Christian J. Collier's Manifest showcase returns with its third poetry slam of the year tonight at The Camp House, 1427 Williams St. Before the slam gets under way, the evening will begin with a 30-minute open-mike session.

In a poetry slam, each poet has three minutes and 10 seconds to perform an original poem. Judges score each poet's performance from zero to 10 after the conclusion of each piece. At the end of the night, the poet with the highest score will win a cash prize.

Sign-ups for poets will be on-site starting at 8 p.m. The open-mike will begin at 9, followed by the slam at 9:30. General admission is $8, $5 for participating poets.

Collier will serve as the slam master for the night. For more information, he can be reached at thespeakeasypoetry@gmail.com.
