Watch & Clock Collectors show this weekend

Portions of the National Association of Watch & Clock Collectors' Mid-South Regional Meeting will be open at no charge this weekend at the Chattanooga Convention Center, 1 Carter Plaza. Among the activities are walking tours, lectures and timepiece evaluations.

The regional meeting is hosted by Atlanta Chapter 24 and co-hosted by Dixie Chapter 16, Tennessee Valley Chapter 42, Alabama Chapter 54 and Rocket City Regulators Chapter 61.

Exhibits: The exhibit hall, featuring antique French clocks, will be open 1-4 p.m. today and 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday for self-guided tours. A guided tour, led by Ken Hogwood, is scheduled for 3 p.m. today.

Lectures: Three free lectures are scheduled, all in Meeting Room 18. "Cleaning & Polishing Brass," led by Henry Newman, is at 2 p.m. today. "Antique French Clocks," presented by Bernie Tekippe, is at 4 p.m. today. "Electronic Clock Timing," with Tom Noesges, is at 10 a.m. Saturday.

Timepiece evaluations: This "Antiques Roadshow"-style event, offering free evaluations of clocks and watches, will be 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Saturday in Exhibit Hall B. The information is meant to help to create provenance for an heirloom and determine its value for insurance or selling.

Those interested in attending other functions of the meeting may join the NAWCC at the registration table beginning at 8 a.m. today. Annual membership is $70; registration to the Mid-South Regional is an additional $30. Membership offers access to the mart, auction and banquet, as well as free research services through the NAWCC Library and Research Center, one of the largest horological libraries in the world.
