Tax holiday in Georgia today, Saturday

Georgia shoppers can buy school supplies and wardrobe essentials free of state and local sales taxes through midnight Saturday.

According to the Georgia Department of Revenue, the exemptions are capped at $100 for clothing and footwear purchases, $1,000 for computers and accessories, and $20 for school supplies, including books on approved school reading lists.

Walnut Square Mall in Dalton, Ga., and Calhoun Premium Outlets will have extended hours during the sale. Walnut Square, off Walnut Avenue, will be open 10 a.m.-10 p.m. today and 9 a.m.-10 p.m. Saturday. The Calhoun outlet mall, at Exit 312 off I-75, will be open 9 a.m.-10 p.m. both days.
