Party at Point Park offers blues, views, barbecue

The Friends of Chickamauga & Chattanooga National Military Park will host their fourth annual National Treasures event, Party at Point Park, on Thursday.

For the first time, National Treasures is returning to the same venue.

"After the success of last year's event at Point Park, we received many 'please, do it again' requests," said Friends president Becky Browder.

The site, she said, is "the perfect venue for celebrating our local national park and what it means to our community."

Scheduled from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., the event will feature blues, views and barbecue.

Performing will be Chattanooga blues artist Dr. Clark White, and his band, Deaconbluz, and the Holy Smoke Band from Atlanta. The bands will perform at the base of the New York Peace Monument.

While strolling the grounds of the park, which is off East Brow Road, guests will find a variety of activities highlighting the unique history of Lookout Mountain and the reconciliation that Point Park commemorates.

Party at Point Park benefits the nonprofit Friends organization, which highlights the significance of Chickamauga & Chattanooga National Military Park.

Tickets are $75 each or $130 per couple and are available at www.chickchatt.org or by check, made payable and mailed to Friends of the Park, P.O. Box 748, Chattanooga, TN 37401.
