The gate at the Chattanooga Zoo features zoo animals.

Creative Discovery Museum is partnering with Chattanooga Zoo on Saturday to send preschoolers and their families on a Camera Safari.

For Preschool Adventure Day, scheduled 10 a.m.-noon, the zoo will have small animals at the museum for children to pet and pose with. Parents are encouraged to bring cameras to take pictures of their children in different safari settings.

Ooltewah High School's ROTC students and Howard School of Academics and Technology's early childhood education students will be volunteering at the event to guide guests through the safari.

The experience will feature multisensory, hands-on activities that incorporate music, art and literacy.

Included are making and eating a "vegetable jungle," creating maps, using binoculars and crafting animal headbands. To wrap up the journey, there will be an opportunity for children to be a part of a group safari.

"The Camera Safari setting will encourage children and families to play together," said Jenette Dean, the museum's PlayGym coordinator and early childhood educator. "New experiences will be present during Camera Safari that will stimulate language development and explore new patterns of learning."

Preschool Adventure Saturdays are designed for children ages 18 months to 4 years.

Activities are free with paid admission to the museum ($10.95).
