SVI 'Rendezvous' follows green path

The Sequatchie Valley Institute near Whitwell, Tenn., will present "Rendezvous for Green Path Summer," an eight-day homestead gathering and skill share, starting Monday.

Already on the schedule are plant walks and garden tours, tea parties, group food preparation, music and storytelling, wild harvests, wild fermentation of bread, vegetables and wine, and ongoing permaculture projects. Other activities will depend on the skills and interests of those who come to take part, according to organizers.

The come-as-you-can gathering will start at 3 p.m. Monday and end at 12:20 p.m. June 18. A pizza party around a wood-fired oven is scheduled for Saturday, June 18.

Participants may bring tents for camping, and there are covered areas available in case of rain. Organizers say events should be especially enjoyable for children.

Cost is based on a sliding scale of $5 to $20 per day, with food trade options.

The SVI is based at Moonshadow, 1233 Cartwright Loop near Whitwell. For more information, call Patrick Ironwood at 423-949-5922; email patrick@svionline.org; or visit svionline.org and click on the link under Upcoming Events.
