Garner (N.C.) Magnet High School's most famous former pitcher will visit the mound tonight at AT&T Field, 201 Power Alley.

Season 10 "American Idol" winner Scotty McCreery will throw out the first pitch as the Chattanooga Lookouts take on the Pensacola Blue Wahoos.

The country singer's visit is one of the promotions for Paint the Park Purple, a benefit for the Mid-South chapter of the Alzheimer's Association.

The right-hander missed his junior year of play during the "American Idol" competition. He gave up touring with Brad Paisley this past spring so that he could return to school to play ball his senior year.

According to Beth Cragon, office and volunteer coordinator for the Alzheimer's Association, the Lookouts will be wearing purple jerseys, which will be sold in a silent auction during the game. Fans attending the game are encouraged to wear purple as well.

General-admission tickets purchased through the Alzheimer's Association will cost the same as at the gate ($5 adults, $3 seniors and children), but part of the proceeds will be donated to the association.

Tickets from the association are available through 4:30 p.m. today by calling 265-3600 or visiting the office at 7625 Hamilton Park Drive (intersection of Lee Highway and Bonny Oaks Drive). The association will have a will-call table set up outside the stadium.

The first 1,000 fans through the gate will receive a 2012 Lookouts baseball card set, courtesy of Hardee's, and fireworks will close out the game.

The home stand continues through Monday. Promotions are scheduled at each game.
