Hamilton County Parks and Recreation Department will kick off the holiday weekend tonight with its eighth annual Beach Blanket Movie Night at Chester Frost Park, 2318 N. Gold Point Circle in Hixson. Admission is free.
Families are invited to bring chairs or blankets to watch the movie from the beach, or they can view the three-story screen from their boats. Sound will be broadcast in FM transmission.
The movie will begin at dark, but family activities are scheduled before the movie. Concessions will be sold.
Due to licensing restrictions, the name of the movie cannot be advertised. However, these hints are allowed: This 2011 release is based on a true story of an introverted 11-year-old boy who befriends a seriously injured marine animal and convinces a pioneering doctor to create a prosthetic appendage that will restore its ability to swim. The movie stars Morgan Freeman, Harry Connick Jr. and Ashley Judd.
