Halloween haunts are multiplying

The countdown to Halloween is getting creepier. Last week, six haunted attractions opened around the region. Today, another four reveal their inner secrets.

Starting this weekend, scares await at Acres of Darkness at Lake WinnepeSpookah at Lake Winnepesaukah in Rossville; The Haunted Barn in McDonald, Tenn.; the Barn of Terror in Flat Rock, Ala.; and at the Grand View Haunted House at Grand View RV Park and Cabins in Altamont, Tenn.

That's in addition to The Haunted Hilltop in Harrison; Haunted Carnival of Nightmares at Sir Goony's Family Fun Center; the Haunted Cavern at Ruby Falls; Forest of Fear and Ghost Ride at Blowing Screams Farm in Flintstone, Ga.; Haunted Hidden Hollow in Crossville, Tenn.; and Gates of Misery in Rome, Ga.

Still to come are Acres of Darkness at Audubon Acres in Chatanooga and two spook houses in Ringgold: Mystery Dog Haunted Ranch and the Ringgold Haunted Depot.
