'A Midsummer Night's Swing' in Tullahoma - July 11

Event mixes music, ice cream

The dance floor will be open tonight, July 11, for "A Midsummer Night's Swing" at the South Jackson Civic Center in Tullahoma, Tenn.

Though music is a primary focus, the event doubles as an ice cream social, with frozen specialties from Purity Dairies along with an assortment of favorite toppings.

The South Jackson Street Band will provide the entertainment, playing tunes from the 1940s and '50s up to the present. Music starts at 7:30 p.m. CDT. Dancers will be challenged to contests, and prizes will be awarded.

Young attendees will be offered a new activity, Loop and Scoop, by the Tullahoma Fine Arts Center. Paper loops will be decorated and put together to form a chandelier.

Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for children under 12. They are available at the Civic Center office, 404 S. Jackson St., and may be purchased at the event. Lawn chairs are recommended for seating. For details, call 931-455-7239 or visit www.southjackson.org.
