Viewers can go behind the scenes of "The A List With Alison Lebovitz" for a live taping today, March 7, at WTCI-TV.

This inaugural fundraising event, Live From Studio 45, allows guests unprecedented access as the host interviews celebrity author Arthur Golden.

The evening begins at 6:45 p.m. with cocktails, hors d'oeuvres, and a silent auction, followed by the interview at 7:45 p.m. The studio shoot will show the start-to-finish process involving makeup, lighting, camera setup, interview and out-takes.

"The A List" is starting its fifth season. In addition to regional movers and shakers, previous guests have included filmmaker Ken Burns, "Masterpiece" and "Downton Abbey" executive producer Rebecca Eaton, recording star Matisyahu and CNN journalist Soledad O'Brien.

Golden's debut work, "Memoirs of a Geisha," was published in 1997 and sold more than 4 million copies in English before being translated into 32 languages. It became a major motion picture in 2005. The novel traces the life of a fictional geisha from an impoverished beginning through the nation's transitions in a time of war and beyond.

Tonight's guests will get the scoop on Golden's upcoming book, another historical fiction that will take readers from Europe to America in the turbulent 1800s.

Tickets are $145 for individuals, $245 for couples. Visit http://wtcitv.org/events/studio-45 to register.
