New monthly cruises pair wine, river (May 31)

Picture this: It's sunset on the Tennessee River. You are kicked back aboard a luxury cruiser, the scenery unfolding around you, a glass of wine in your hand.

That's the image of relaxation organizers of a new monthly wine cruise are envisioning. The first is scheduled 6-8:30 p.m. Friday, May 31, aboard The Blue Moon, boarding at the Chattanooga Pier, 201 Riverfront Parkway.

Guests will enjoy a full presentation of six boutique, high-altitude, Argentine wines accompanied by light hors d'oeuvres during the 2 1/2 hour cruise.

The choice of wines is determined by Mariano Cebrián, the city's youngest wine entrepreneur, who is introducing Chattanoogans to the unusual wines from the mountain regions of his native country. Argentinean wines, according to reports, now account for more imports than Australian wines to the United States.

Cebrián came to Chattanooga from Argentina on a tennis scholarship, fell in love with the city and started a wine importing business that now covers the Southeastern United States.

Cost of the cruise is $60 per person, $110 per couple. Use discount code COU when booking online, www.bluemooncruises.org/cruise_wine.htm. Or reserve tickets by calling 888-993-BLUE (2583).
