Don't tell anybody, but even teenagers who seemingly might have aged out of the Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum's North Pole Limited come back every year with their families.
"I know that we have people who come back year after year," says operations coordinator Steve Freer. "It's just a family tradition for many people."
The train ride, offering an imaginary trip to the North Pole, begins its 15th season Friday, Nov. 22.
Twice a night, and often three times a night in December, the North Pole Limited leaves TVRM's Grand Junction Station.
Travelers are treated to refreshments, storytelling and sing-alongs. As the North Pole - TVRM's East Chattanooga station - draws closer, a number of lighted displays can be seen outside.
Once the train comes to a stop, Santa boards for a visit. During the return ride, the jolly old elf makes his way through the train cars greeting every child and presenting each one a keepsake.
For an extra fare, Santa's Private Car provides hot chocolate in a keepsake tumbler, fresh-baked cookies, an extended visit with Santa and personal service by TVRM attendants.
