Creative Discovery Museum in downtown Chattanooga.

In remembrance of the lives lost on Sept. 11, 2001, and the heroism displayed by those who responded to the terrorist attacks, the Creative Discovery Museum will offer free admission to local heroes next week, Sept. 9-15.

The six-day observance is a thank-you for first responders who "so often go above and beyond the call in helping others," says Henry Schulson, executive director.

The allowance covers two adults and two children in families of all police officers, firefighters, emergency workers and military personnel. Appropriate identification must be presented.

The children's museum at 321 Chestnut St. also provides a $3 discount year-round to all Chattanooga police and firefighters and Hamilton County sheriff's officers and their immediate families.

Regular admission is $11.95.

Current hours at the CDM are 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Saturday (closed Wednesdays) and noon-5 p.m. Sundays.
