Insulator collectors from around the Southeast will meet Saturday, Aug. 16, in Dalton, Ga., for the Dixie Jewels Insulator Club's summer swap meet. Set for 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the historic Dalton Freight Depot, 305 S. Depot St., the event highlights the glass and porcelain devices that were attached to old electric, telegraph and telephone lines to insulate the wires and keep the electrical current from going to the ground. Tables will be filled with hundreds of these vintage pieces in all shapes and sizes for sale or trade. All price ranges will be represented, including a table of freebies for new collectors.
