The iconic gates of Point Park, a National Park Service site at 112 Point Park Road on Lookout Mountain, will be thrown open for a casual evening of celebration from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. today, Aug. 28, for the Party at Point Park, the sixth annual National Treasures event hosted by the Friends of Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park.

This year's event marks the 125th anniversary of the Blue and Gray Barbecue, the 1889 picnic that brought Union and Confederate veterans back to the Chickamauga and Chattanooga battlefields to commemorate the establishment of the country's first federally protected Civil War battlefield.

Guests will gather for bluegrass music from The Dismembered Tennesseans and a full menu of barbecue and drinks.

Tickets are $75 to $130. Call 423-648-5623 for availability.
