Officers salute as a giant American flag is carried past the reviewing stand at last year's Armed Forces Day Parade through downtown Chattanooga. This annual salute to military personnel and veterans, a tradition since 1952, will step off at 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 2, north on Market Street from M.L. King Boulevard. Armed Forces Day will be celebrated nationally on Saturday, May 17. Chattanooga's parade is held the first Friday in May so that high school bands and JROTC units may participate.
