You don't have to travel to Louisville to enjoy the Kentucky Derby.

Two Chattanooga organizations will mark the run for the roses with separate events on Saturday, May 3. So grab your biggest hat and fanciest duds and get ready to party.

¦ Do the Derby ... Chattanooga Style: Scheduled 4:30-11 p.m. at Engel Stadium, 1130 E. Third St., to benefit Chattanooga's's Kids on the Block. Tickets are $50 general admission ($60 at at the gate), $90 VIP (not available at the gate); $30 for the post-race party after 8 p.m. To purchase, call 423-757-5259 or visit www.kidsontheblock.net.

This fifth annual, all-inclusive fundraising party will feature entertainment by the GPS String Quartet, a performance of "My Old Kentucky Home" by the Alhambra Highlander Pipe & Drum Band, the national anthem performed by Walt Marler, afternoon and evening buffets, complimentary beer, wine and one mint julep, a bourbon and cigar tent, live and silent auctions, photo booth, hat contest, celebrity stick-horse race, live horses, dancing in Bourbon Alley and the live broadcast of the Kentucky Derby on big screens.

¦ Tell Me Something Derby: Scheduled 3:30-8 p.m. in the Republic parking lot adjacent to Bluewater Grille, 224 Broad St., benefiting Chattanooga Room in the Inn. Tickets are $60 per couple, $35 per individual ($40 at the gate or after noon today, May 1). Reserved table seating for eight is available for $400. Visitors at this old-fashioned party can watch the race, televised live on big-screen TVs, while sipping on mint juleps and munching on hors d'oeuvres beneath white steeple tents. No Big Deal will provide a soundtrack while guests stroll the Whiskey Tasting Trail, choose other libations from the cash bar, pose in the photo booth or satisfy a sweet tooth with Gigi's cupcakes. A grand hat contest will be held for the women, best dressed for the men. Guests must be 21 to enter.
