Shows by The Enigma, left, and Serana Rose revive the 1920s traditions of vaudeville with a modern mix of electricity tricks, glass eating, knife throwing, blindfolded chainsaw runs and spikes hammered into the head.

The Chattanooga Tattoo Convention returns for its second year Friday through Sunday, May 23-25, bringing some of the best established and upcoming tattoo artists in the industry to the Chattanooga Convention Center, 1 Carter Plaza.

Close to 70 artists from around the country are registered to take part in the event, which features live tattooing and piercing, along with tattoo contests Saturday and Sunday ($10 entry fee) and Tattoo of the Day decisions all three days.

Also scheduled are human suspension and sideshow performances by the ShowDevils. Vendors will offer a marketplace.

The convention was founded by tattoo artist Danny Fugate and his crew at Ambition Tattoo in Knoxville.

Hours are 2-10 p.m. Friday, noon-11 p.m. Saturday and noon-7 p.m. Sunday.

Admission is $15 for a one-day pass, $25 for two days, $35 for three.
