ROSSVILLE: Officer of the Year award presented

Rossville Exchange Club's annual Officer of the Year presentation was crowded this year.

The prosecution team that investigated the disappearance of former Walker County 911 dispatcher Teresa Parker and subsequently provided the case for the murder conviction of her husband Sam Parker shared the Officer of the Year honors.

The 13 honored were: Marcus Veasey of the FBI, James Harris, Audey Murphy, Dan Sims and John Farmer of the GBI, Walt Hensley, Burt Cagle, Anthony Gilleland, David Gilleland, Mike Freeman and Donnie Phillips of the Walker County Sheriff's Office, Floyd County District Attorney Leigh Patterson and Floyd County Assistant District Attorney Natalie Staats.

The case earned national interest and the prosecution team got a conviction even though Mrs. Parker's body has never been found.
