With two stylists offering salon services including cuts, color and waxing in addition to two new 30-bulb tanning beds, Create-a-Cut and Tan clients can achieve a completely new look at one convenient location.

Co-owners and stylists Lisa McFarland and Connie Smith met while working at a local chain salon, where they were cutting hair for around five years before opening their own business this month.

"We had a very strong clientele down there," said Smith of their former workplace, which is down the street from their new location.

"After so long, you start to make friends with your clientele," said McFarland. "They're like family to me."

She said it has always been her dream to own her own salon. Since the two already knew they worked well together, they decided to break out on their own.

"I've always wanted to be a Soddy-Daisy business owner and support my hometown," said McFarland, a lifetime resident.

Smith has 16 years of hair-cutting experience under her belt, and McFarland has spent the past nine years behind a stylist's chair.

"We do quality work and we take pride in our work," said Smith.

The family-oriented salon serves men, women and children and welcomes walk-ins.

Create-A-Cut & Tan is at 136 Bean St., Suite D, and can be reached at 332-3322.
