Linda's Produce moves down Highway 58

Linda's Produce is moving to a bigger location on Highway 58 with easy access and plenty of parking for guests and a loading dock for shipments of farm-fresh produce.

photo Mark and Vanessa Ramey are owners of the Highway 58 Linda's Produce, which they have relocated to a new site.

"We had gotten too busy and we had a parking issue at the old location," said Mark Ramey, who has owned Linda's Produce on Highway 58 for nine seasons with his wife Vanessa.

The new location is at 5900 Highway 58, only a few blocks from the old, but the Rameys said they hope the significant difference in convenience and visibility will increase their level of business. With the extra space, Ramey said next season he plans to sell flowers as well as more permanent landscaping plants such as trees and shrubs. Eventually, he will bring in mulch and top soil to sell as well.

Ramey's parents, Linda and Terry Ramey, own the original Linda's Produce location in East Ridge. Ramey helped them both as a youth and adult with farming and the produce stand.

"I grew up with my mom and dad in northeast Harrison, and dad always put in a crop and us kids had to participate," Ramey said. "I guess that kind of set the seed."

Ramey's produce follows the grow line as it starts in Florida and works its way up toward Georgia and Tennessee, providing fresh and local vegetables and fruits. The difference between shopping at Linda's Produce and a traditional grocery store, Ramey said, is that the produce stand only buys enough for a few days and if something is not at its best they can get a new shipment in quickly.

"I can keep up with who has the best quality and price," Ramey said.
