The Signal Mountain Homeschool Theater Group presents "Robin Hood," the classic tale of robbing from the rich to give to the poor, at Bachman Community Center Tuesday, March 29 from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

"This is the first year they've taken over every aspect of the theater," said Brooke Iverson, who has directed SMHTG productions since the group began five years ago. "I would really like people to support them in what they're doing, because they've worked really hard and they're just really good kids."

Ranging in age from 5 to 15 years, group members managed all behind-the-scenes duties during the course of the production from sound and lighting to costumes.

"It's just been wonderful to see how they decide to do everything," she said.

Sarah Baker and Rebecca Lawrence designed patterns for 30 costumes, all of which they sewed themselves using fabric donated by the Signal Mountain Clothes House for under $60 total.

"They did an amazing job," said Iverson.

Alyssa Neuhoff served as lighting director, and 10-year-old Tanner Lockhart was the play's backstage director charged with changing sets, props and music.

"Robin Hood" was decided upon for this year's production based on a group vote, said Iverson.

"It came down to wanting to do something with action," she said. "This is the first year they've gotten to do stunts."

Admission to the play is free, but monetary or book donations are requested for the Bachman Community Center and Signal Mountain libraries.
