W Road changes lining up

The issue some residents have pulling onto the W Road from East Brow Road may turn into an easy, quick fix.

Officials are considering painting the road with a dotted line to keep motorists in their lane as they make the uphill arc from the W Road onto Anderson Pike. That would leave enough room for the stop bars on East Brow Road to be moved closer to the intersection so motorists trying to pull out gain visibility, both for themselves and from other drivers.

"I didn't realize how bad it was," Mayor Peter Hetzler said of the issue, which was brought to light several months ago by citizen complaints.

The possible solution was devised in conjunction with Hamilton County engineers after watching traffic there.

"That alone would slow people down coming up," said Hetzler. "A lot of things are not very practical. A four-way stop would probably be an interesting situation. [The engineer] said rumble strips are going to drive people crazy at night. They make so much noise with people coming across them."

A few hundred dollars could drive the project to conclusion.
