Editor,

Dr. Jonathan Welch is the right choice to be re-elected to the Hamilton County Board of Education, District 2.

Jonathan, the only incumbent to be endorsed by both sides of the [daily Times Free Press] newspaper, has served faithfully without seeking credit over the last four years. He regularly visits schools in his district and meets with principals to better understand the needs of our students and teachers. He has willingly served as chairman during one of the most tumultuous times on the school board and is poised to help lead the transition of a new superintendent.

I am supporting Jonathan Welch due to his authenticity, his impeccable character and integrity, and his desire to serve for the right reasons. He is not accepting contributions saying, "I would rather fund my own campaign and maintain my independence."

While many of us are tired of empty political promises and divisive rhetoric, we are fortunate to have individuals such as Jonathan Welch willing to serve and to do so in an honorable manner. Let's be a district that approaches this election with a humble, positive approach, seeking to encourage and support our leaders rather than throwing stones. Without reservation and with enthusiasm, my wife, Laurel, and I ask you to vote for Jonathan Welch as we reelect him as the Hamilton County Board of Education, District 2 representative.
