The Mountain Education Foundation's annual Dash and Bash fundraiser was a huge success again this year, with more than 700 people participating in the run and 2,000-2,500 attending the Bash festivities, said Mountain Education Foundation Executive Director Katie Hanners.

Hanners anticipates the organization will net around $58,000 from the event, about a 23 percent increase over the amount raised through the Dash and Bash last year.

"We are so appreciative to the community for their amazing support of our public schools," Hanners said. "We also appreciate the time and efforts of our event committee and the support of numerous business sponsors.

The funds raised through the event go into MEF's general fund to provide for needs including teacher salaries, professional development and technology upgrades in Signal Mountain's three public schools.
