Bachman Community Center is introducing a new Movie Night event, in which the auditorium will be opened to the community six times a year to show family-friendly films.

"We really love our auditorium and wanted to utilize that space more, and we wanted to do something fun and free for the community," said Marketing and Programs Manager Katy Murphy. "It's an opportunity to come back to Bachman, see the building and appreciate the classic style of it while doing something different."

Bachman isn't authorized to name the film outside its building, but the first film is a 1960's classic based on a Truman Capote novella and features Audrey Hepburn in the lead role. It is being shown Friday, Feb. 10 at 8 p.m., with the doors opening at 7:30.

Murphy said the next movie, to be shown in March, will be announced through pictures and word puzzles on Bachman's website and Facebook page. While all the films will be family-friendly, she said the movies shown over the summer will be more kid-focused.

"We're focusing on classic titles - movies people have heard of but have never sat down and watched - and introducing them to a younger generation," she said. "We would love to get a diverse group in here to enjoy something unique."

Admission is free. Popcorn and concessions will be sold to benefit Bachman's programs and building maintenance, said Murphy.

Bachman Community Center is at 2815 Anderson Pike and can be reached at 886-4842, or visit bachmancc.org or facebook.com/BachmanCommunityCenter.
