Each year, the IF:Gathering brings tens of thousands of women together worldwide - virtually - for worship and fellowship. Signal Crest United Methodist Church is hosting the IF:Gathering Friday, March 10 at 6 p.m. and Saturday, March 11 at 9 a.m. The deadline to register is Tuesday, March 7.
A live broadcast of the IF:Gathering taped in Austin, Texas, was live-streamed in February to churches all over the world which are registered to host the event, and the broadcast will continue to be shown in those churches through June.
"It's a way for us to gather as women and hear world-renowned speakers without having to bring them in, which would be cost-prohibitive," said Kristy Stewart, communications coordinator for Signal Crest. "It will give women a chance to fellowship, worship and learn how to disciple together."
This is the fourth year Signal Crest has hosted the event, which has a different theme every year. The 2017 theme is the Book of Acts, with a focus on the early church and how women can live out their faith in simple, pure ways taken from Acts.
While not all speakers are announced prior to the event, Jennie Allen, the Austin, Texas, author who heads the organization, is among them. Past speakers include authors such as Jen Hatmaker, Rebekah Lyons and Ann Voskamp.
The fee to register is $15, and attendees must make a donation of at least $1 to IF at the event. On Friday, dessert and nonalcoholic drinks will be served, and on Saturday, breakfast items, coffee, lunch and snacks will be provided.
The event is being held in the Crest Center located in the back of the church, and attendees should park in the main lot, said Stewart.
