The Men of St. Timothy's ministry from St. Timothy's Episcopal Church is preparing for its ninth annual Christmas tree and wreath sale. The group will take orders up until members leave for Boone, N.C., to pick up the holiday greenery Friday, Nov. 17.

Trees will be delivered to homes; wreaths must be picked up at the church.

"You're supporting a ministry that reaches out and helps as many people as we can," tree sale organizer Patrick Emanuel said, as to why he thinks people should order through the group.

Proceeds from the sale are used to make donations to local organizations including Signal Mountain Social Services, Bethel Bible Village, Family Promise and the Lone Oak Volunteer Fire Department's annual toy drive.

This is the third year the ministry has helped support the toy drive, which supplies toys and food to more than 50 families in Lone Oak at Christmastime. When ordering a tree, people have the option to donate extra funds for the drive. Together, those donations amounted to $1,200 last year.

"Every year we're ramping up our support for Lone Oak," Emanuel said, adding that this year the ministry will donate a 10-foot tree to the Lone Oak Community Center to be used for a community tree-lighting Saturday, Dec. 2.

People ordering trees can also opt to donate trees, and Emanuel said the number of those who choose to do so has also increased each year. This year, donated trees will be delivered to Bethel Bible Village, he said.

Because of last summer's drought, Emanuel said the tree supply is lower than usual this year, so people who want one delivered should call Joe Galbraith at 260-7720 or email mosttrees@yahoo.com as soon as possible.

Trees are available in a range of sizes and will be delivered to homes Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 18 and 19. Wreaths can be picked up at the church, 630 Mississippi Ave., beginning Sunday, Nov. 19.
