SODDY-DAISY: Fourth of July celebration coming up

Summertime is in full swing; vacations planned or longed for and the biggest event of the year is near. Robert Cothran and Chapter 942 Vietnam Veterans are making plans for the best Fourth of July celebration ever on July 3 by the lake. Festivities will begin at 9 a.m. and end after the fireworks. Craft vendors are still needed and can rent a 12-by-12 space for $35. Eight band will be performing a variety of music all day. Food and drink will be available until dark and there is the return of the "hole-in one contest" for a $5,000 prize. Three hundred classic cars will be on display from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be additional options for the kids this year as well. Another chance for seeing your neighbors will the Variety Show at Soddy Elementary School on June 26. Proceeds will go to the Habitat for Humanity house being built in Soddy-Daisy.
