Local band Smith & Wesley is making waves on the top of the charts.

"We are moving very fast," said Ringgold's Scott Smith, lead vocalist and guitarist in the band. "We've had a top 30 hit on Music Row 'You're the One.' We are right there on the charts with big names. Kenny Chesney was No. 1. We tied Luke Bryan for No. 2 Most Added Song for Music Row Country Stations last week."

And, Smith added, the band was recently featured in Nashville's Music Row publications as a Spotlight Artist. Currently, the band is also the only one signed to an independent label in the Top 20 on Music Row Country Stations, where they have ranked No. 6 for the past two weeks.

So, how can locals see this up and coming country band?

The band is set to play at Camp Jordan Arena Aug. 20 at 7 p.m., where it will take the stage for a free concert, followed by Confederate Railroad at 9 p.m.

Smith said the band is excited to return to its roots and play in Chattanooga, adding that he was honored the city of East Ridge asked the band to play.

"We are honored to play with Danny Shirley, of Confederate Railroad," said Smith. "He's not only our cousin, but also a great mentor to us in music. After the Camp Jordan show, we will meet folks and shake hands and sign autographs during a meet-and-greet inside the Smith & Wesley tent on-site."

The Smith brothers and duo singers said they are excited about where the band's music is taking the family.

"It takes independent labels forever to get there and we've done it in less than a year," Smith said.

The band's first album is "Choices & Chances." Its second album will be released in February 2017.

Smith & Wesley will tour this fall. Anyone interested in learning more can go to smithandwesley.com for more details.
