Carolyn Hogan has been making floral arrangements for so long, she's nearly forgotten how she got started. But her 35-year-old business, Carolyn's Florist, is getting a new start in a new location.
Though just down from the shop's previous address on Highway 58, Hogan said the new location is more accessible.
"I guess it started as a hobby and the next thing I knew, here we are 35 years later," she said of her business.
It took nearly 50 trips to move all the flowers to Hogan's new location, just next to Turner Funeral Home. Though she owned her prior space, a tempting offer and a chance to move into a building where a traffic light makes it easier for her customers to access the shop made her decide to move, she said.
"We have always been in the Highway 58 area," she said. "This is where we started and this is where we'll always be."
Hogan dreams of retiring in a few years and allowing flowers to return to a hobby status, as opposed to a full-time profession. However, she said, she isn't going anywhere anytime soon.
"This community has been so good to us," she said. "They supported us over the years and we will continue to give the service we have always given."
Carolyn's Florist is now located at 3907 Webb Road. The business continues to operate under the same hours it kept at its prior location: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Friday and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday.
