Chattanooga's oldest land trust is hosting its annual Little Owl Festival Saturday, May 13.

The family-friendly festival features live music, a birds of prey show, hayrides, nature walks through the sanctuary grounds, kids crafts and more to raise money for the Chattanooga Audubon Society at Audubon Acres.

"It's an opportunity for us to showcase the facility and get people out and having fun in nature," said Chattanooga Audubon Vice President Ray Zimmerman. "It's important to get people out and remind them why it's important to have natural areas in their neighborhoods."

Last year, the event brought more than 600 people to Audubon Acres, where the local Audubon Society chapter started in 1944 by Robert Sparks Walker originated.

And with migrating birds and flowers in full bloom, this year's spring festival will not disappoint, Zimmerman said.

"It's a chance to explore the grounds, as well as see the events onstage," he said. "And the birds of prey show at 4 p.m. is not to be missed."

The festival runs from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at 900 N. Sanctuary Road. Admission is $7 per person or $15 per carload.
