Siskin Hospital's outpatient therapy services clinic in East Brainerd is now operating out of its new facility at The Pavilion at Panorama, where it moved from its old location of six years on Gunbarrel Road earlier this month.
The new building, located off East Brainerd Road on Panorama Drive, is 30 percent larger than the old clinic. It is also more accessible to patients driving to their appointments, officials said.
The additional space will help to accommodate the 40 percent increase in patient volume this year, said Vice President of Administration Tod Cain. He credits positive patient outcomes and the introduction of the Direct Access program - which allows patients to refer themselves for outpatient therapy - for the surge in growth.
The facility now boasts seven physical therapists, three of whom are new; an occupational therapist who is a certified hand therapist; and a speech pathologist.
More therapists mean more treatment slots available and a shorter wait time between referral and treatment, now typically only a few days, said Cain.
The facility also boasts new and updated therapy equipment, including seated steppers, treadmills and treatment tables designed specifically for the facility. Also among the new features are five private treatment rooms, offered in addition to the privacy-curtained patient areas.
"It really allows us to give patients the amount of privacy they need," Cain said of the addition of individual rooms.
Siskin intends to expand its outpatient therapy services even further, with plans to add clinics in Hixson and Ooltewah.
"We expect to make a move on at least one in the next four to six months," said Cain, adding that there are also plans to double the size of the clinic in Cleveland, Tenn., at the beginning of 2019.
