Unique fundraising event pairs notable locals with pro dancers to raise funds for community health centers in North Georgia

Lanie Coulter poses with her pro dance partner and instructor Mark Franklin. Coulter said she was spurred into action when she visited one of the Primary Healthcare clinics. "[My family] never had to question whether or not to buy groceries or go to the doctor. The sad thing is many in our area are faced with those hard decisions regularly," she wrote in her bio. So far, Coulter has raised roughly $7,500 toward her $12,000 goal. (Contributed photo by Arc Studios Photography)

Dance-lovers and philanthropists alike showed up in support of North Georgia's Dancing Stars earlier this month.

The unique fundraising event pairs notable locals with pro dancers to bring attendees a night of choreographed dance, all in the name of charity.

Proceeds from the competition benefit Primary Healthcare Centers, a group of nonprofit community health centers that provide services to everyone, regardless of their ability to pay.

So far, the 2019 competition has raised more than $134,600 toward its $150,000 goal, though the push isn't over just yet.

Those eager to support their favorite competitors through sponsorship dollars can donate online at ngdstars.com until they've reached their financial goals.
