This month, 1885’s Giveback Night — set for tomorrow — could not be better timed.

The St. Elmo eatery will donate its proceeds from Monday, Nov. 20 between 4 and 10 p.m. to the Grateful Gobbler Walk, an annual Thanksgiving Day event that benefits the Maclellan Shelter for Families.

“They’re a fun bunch,” 1885 partner and manager Miguel de Jesus said about the Grateful Gobbler organizers, who will don turkey hats and host gobbling contests — with prizes — during the Giveback Night.

Fittingly, the Giveback Night date will correspond with 1885’s weekly “birds and brew” special, offering $5 wings plus $1 off craft brews and domestic bottles of beer.

And once you get into that giving groove, why not purchase a gift card and cross a name off your list? Miguel pointed out that through Dec. 31, for every $100 online gift card purchased you will receive $20 in return.

Now’s also a great time to get started planning your holiday gathering. During lunch hours Monday through Wednesday, 1885’s space can be reserved for private holiday soirees.

And in the spirit of generosity, 1885 has a gift for you, too.

“People have been asking us for a long time to open for dinner on Sunday,” Miguel said. “We’re finally doing that.”

The restaurant’s new Sunday hours are 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for brunch and 2-9 p.m. for dinner.

Giving back never tasted so good.
