Located in Lafayette’s historic town square, with blue-hued mountains rippling across the horizon, Dari Dip is your quintessential down-home diner: red-roofed, white-sided and family-owned. To match its classic country facade, Dari Dip’s menu features lunch and dinner dishes that include barbecue pork, chicken livers and country-fried steak topped with white gravy.

And then, of course, there is the restaurant’s vast dessert menu boasting an array of sweet treats. Like clockwork, this time of year when 3 p.m. hits students arrive in droves for a taste of one of Dari Dip’s cones, swirls or shakes.

It is a quaint and delicious scene — and one that you can easily channel for your next event.

Dari Dip’s on-site private dining space seats up to 50 people and is free to reserve. Parties of up to 30 can order off the menu, while parties of more than 30 are invited to create a custom menu. One popular option for party-throwers — according to Don Benton, who co-owns Dari Dip with his son Donald — is to choose a buffet-style dinner.

However you indulge at Dari Dip, you can bet that whatever you choose it will be served with a good, old-fashioned side of Southern charm.
