SOHO HIBACHILocation: 1014 Battlefield Parkway, Fort Oglethorpe, Ga.Phone: 706-858-7766Hours: Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Sunday from 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.

From its shiny new plaques to its online reviews to these very pages, Soho’s stellar reputation precedes itself.

Since the grand opening of its North Georgia location in 2013, Soho has been making a name for itself as an affordable, but quality, alternative to more expensive Japanese steakhouses. One year later, business was booming, leading to the opening of its second location, in Hixson, in 2014.

Every year since, Soho Hibachi has continued to impress residents of the Tennessee Valley. Chattanooga Times Free Press readers voted both locations “Best of the Best” in a number of different categories; notably, in 2016, Soho’s Fort Oglethorpe location won “Best Japanese Restaurant,” and was a finalist for “Best Meal for the Money” and “Best Carry Out.” Likewise, on TripAdvisor, Fort Oglethorpe’s Soho is rated the third most popular of the town’s 51 restaurants.

All accolades aside, Soho is founded on quality ingredients and expertly prepared hibachi dishes. Examples include the best-selling chicken — tossed in a tangy golden sauce on a bed of freshly grilled vegetables, and served with customer’s choice of white rice, fried rice, brown rice or noodles — or, my personal favorite, vegetable udon stir-fry, featuring soft and plump noodles mixed with grilled vegetables and tossed in sweet-tasting broth.

Soho’s atmosphere is casual and the portions are epic. Why not taste for yourself what the fuss is all about?
