Happy April Foods Day!

Those who know me know that I like to have fun. I tell bad jokes; I can be sarcastic. So to many, it will be no surprise that I am dedicating this week’s column to delicious April Fools’ Day ideas — April Foods Day, if you will.

Really, here are a few amazing tricks to play on the good-humored folks in your life.

1. Replace Oreo cream filling with toothpaste. Mmm, milk’s favorite cookie, indeed.

2. Serve a sundae made with mashed potatoes and gravy. For good measure, garnish it with a maraschino cherry.

3. Bring a pan of brownies to work – literally. Cut a dozen “E’s” from brown construction paper. Put them in a baking dish and cover them with aluminum foil. Be sure to label them before setting them out in the cafeteria.

4. Make an un-drinkable drink with Jell-O. Don’t forget to place a straw into the cup before refrigerating overnight. The expression on your guests’ faces when they try to suck will be priceless.

5. Prepare the greatest “grilled cheese” of your friends’ and family’s lives. Replace bread slices with pound cake and cheese with orange-tinted vanilla frosting. Warm in the toaster oven. At first, they will be surprised. Then, they will be delighted.
