On April 23, 1885 will host its next “giveback night,” benefiting The Bethlehem Center, a local nonprofit dedicated to empowering inner-city youth and families.

Amid the longer days and warmer weather, St. Elmo bustles with foot traffic this time of year. And at its historic heart is 1885 Grill, featuring a large cobblestone patio now open to diners.

The flowers are freshly planted and the entertainment schedule is finalized. This season, said 1885 partner and manager Miguel de Jesus, there will be more music than ever.

Local acts will be hosted every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday beginning at 6 p.m. and every Sunday for brunch beginning at noon. Between that live music, the restaurant’s new menu and its recently expanded bloody mary bar — now complete with pickled green tomatoes, pickled okra, pickled green beans and additional mixers — 1885’s Sunday brunch is now more popular than ever. Which is why Miguel decided to make Mother’s Day’s brunch reservation-only.

That Sunday, there will be eight time slots available during brunch, spanning from 10 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. Open-seating, with call-ahead options, will be available for dinner, beginning at 4:30 p.m. There will be a number of specials that day, which you can learn more about by subscribing to 1885’s weekly newsletter. And when you sign up, 1885 gives you a $5 gift card.

Yes, amid the longer days, warmer weather and delicious upcoming events, St. Elmo’s 1885 is the place to be this spring. And be sure to stay tuned — as the afternoons continue to lengthen, 1885 has an exciting announcement on the horizon about a future project.
