At Einstein Bros. Bagels, the glass displays are always well-stocked with shiny, fresh-baked bagels — now joined by eye-catching “Shmearfuls,” proudly showcased in the display’s center.
Imagine a doughnut hole, but made of bagel dough and filled with cream cheese. Among the Schmearful flavor combinations are Asiago filled with plain cream cheese, French toast filled with maple cream cheese, and pretzel filled with beer cheese.
Those bite-sized bagel balls are big news at Einstein, said General Manager Amber Randall.
But there’s more: The restaurant is now featuring a trio of new eats on its everyday menu. There is the new “Cheesy Wakin’ Bacon Bagel” sandwich, made with egg, cheddar and thick-cut bacon served on a decadent six-cheese bagel. Next, there is the “No Yolk” sandwich, made with egg whites, tomato, smashed avocado, roasted tomato spread and turkey bacon served on an ancient grain bagel.
“Turkey bacon is a whole new things for us,” said Amber.
Finally, Einstein now serves avocado toast — sprinkled with salt, pepper and its fan-favorite “Everything” seasoning — on any one of its shiny, fresh-baked bagels, which are now working harder than ever to hold their own against those charming little Shmearfuls.
