The Social Meal Movement

Between supper clubs and restaurant beer and wine dinners, we seem to be the midst of a movement. Mealtime is becoming less about sustenance and more about experience. Perhaps it is the antidote to our increasingly busy schedules, taking us further and further from our family dinners.

Last week, I learned about a new social food trend: progressive dinners.

Progressive dinners feature multiple courses and multiple venues. For the first course, participating diners choose a place to meet and share small plates. Then, they move to a second spot for the main course. The night would end, of course, with dessert or after-dinner drinks at a third restaurant.

Expensive? Maybe. Time intensive? Certainly. Do I approve? Deliciously, yes.
